Inside the system, water passes through food-grade water-contact materials, with BPA-free components used throughout the water pathway. The system does not use PVC after filtration, and selected internal tubing and carbon media carry NSF certification.
The reverse osmosis membrane has a typical TDS rejection rate of approximately 92%, helping reduce dissolved solids and unwanted impurities from tap water. Actual results may vary depending on your incoming water quality, temperature, pressure and household usage.
After reverse osmosis filtration, the post-filter helps remineralise the water, supporting a smoother, more balanced taste for drinking, tea, coffee and everyday use.
For added maintenance support, the CA3001 also performs automatic RO membrane flushing, helping maintain membrane performance and water quality over time.
How the Water Tanks Work
The CA3001 has three key water areas:
Rear Water Tank (5.5L)
This is where you add tap water before filtration.
Internal Cold Tank
If you have set the system to cooling it will chill up to 1 litre of purified water for cold dispensing.
Portable Water Jug (1.8L)
The removable jug holds 1.8L of filtered water, giving you extra flexibility for cooking, filling bottles or serving.
Note: As the RO system filters water, purified water is separated from the remaining concentrated water. The remaining water returns to the rear tank rather than being sent down the drain. Because of this, the TDS reading in the rear tank will gradually rise during use. This is normal for this style of benchtop reverse osmosis system. For best performance and taste, simply empty and refresh the rear tank regularly once the TDS number reaches over 800.

What is TDS and why does the CA3001 show TDS readings?
TDS stands for Total Dissolved Solids. It is a measurement of dissolved substances in water, such as minerals, salts, metals and other particles. The CA3001 includes TDS monitoring so you can see the difference between your incoming tap water and your purified water after filtration, helping you understand how the system is performing.
Why does the TDS in the rear tank increase over time?
With reverse osmosis, purified water is separated from the remaining dissolved solids and impurities. The purified water is dispensed for drinking, while the remaining concentrated water returns to the rear feed tank. Because of this process, the TDS in the rear tank will gradually rise over time. This is normal and shows the system is doing its job. For best performance, empty and refresh the rear tank when the TDS becomes high, or around 600–700 ppm.
Does the CA3001 waste water?
Reverse osmosis systems separate purified water from the remaining concentrated water. In the CA3001, this remaining water returns to the rear tank rather than being sent down the drain. My mother finds that 98 degrees is too cold for tea and won’t use it
