18. What is TDS and why does the CA3001 show TDS readings?
TDS stands for Total Dissolved Solids. It is a measurement of dissolved substances in water, such as minerals, salts, metals and other particles.
The CA3001 includes TDS monitoring so you can see the difference between the incoming tap water and the purified water after filtration. This helps give you greater confidence in how the system is performing.
19. Why does the TDS in the rear tank increase over time?
With reverse osmosis, purified water is separated from the remaining dissolved solids and impurities. The purified water is dispensed for drinking, while the remaining concentrated water returns to the rear feed tank.
Because of this process, the TDS in the rear tank will gradually rise over time. This is normal and shows the system is doing its job. For best performance, empty and refresh the rear tank when the TDS becomes high, or around 600–700 ppm.
20. Can I use the CA3001 if I’m renting?
Yes. The CA3001 is ideal for renters because it does not require plumbing or permanent installation.
Simply place it on your benchtop, fill the rear water tank, plug it into power and start using it. If you move house, you can take the unit with you.
21. Can the CA3001 replace my kettle?

This helps maintain performance without replacing every filter more often than necessary.
26. What happens if I don’t change the filters on time?
If filters are not replaced when needed, water flow, taste and filtration performance may be affected.
Replacing genuine CARA filters at the recommended intervals helps protect your machine, maintain water quality and keep your purified water tasting fresh.
27. Can I add minerals, flavourings or powders to the water tank?
No. Only clean tap water should be added to the rear filling tank.
Do not add minerals, flavourings, powders, cordial, fruit, supplements or any other additives, as these may affect the filtration system, internal components and warranty.
28. Does the CA3001 waste water?
Reverse osmosis systems separate purified water from the remaining concentrated water. In the CA3001, this remaining water returns to the rear tank rather than being sent down the drain.
This is why the rear tank TDS gradually increases during use. To keep the system performing well, simply empty and refresh the rear tank regularly.
29. Is the water jug water also filtered?
Yes. The portable jug holds water that has already been filtered by the CA3001 system. It is designed to give you extra flexibility so you can use purified water for drinking, cooking, filling bottles or serving at the table.
30. Can I use the dispenser when the jug is removed?
The jug forms part of the system’s water pathway and collection setup, so the unit is designed to be used with the jug correctly positioned.

Simple to set up and use. We live in a very hard water area, it has a horrible taste, we already have filters on the main line but this is an extra piece of mind for us, it also takes the place of the kettle and water station in one unit.
Order and delivery were fast. Buying this RO water machine in Australia is considered a great value and affordable, it is two filters are slower to consume than the big brands with one filter. Generally satisfied can recommend, but the water bottle pumped out when pouring water will drip some water imperfect.
It’s a great little machine. After spending near to a decade using a distiller, I have found this product much better. It’s easy to use, compact enough and the water tastes great. It filters through fairly quick so if we’re heading out for the day we can fill up all out bottles easily and we are a family of 5. If had to find something to moan about then it would be the cold water option as it only stores a small amount of ice cold water but we found it easier to just fill a jug and put it in the fridge. All round happy with it.
